Donna was smart and went to a doctor in Baku to make sure it was nothing serious. She had her blood drawn and her throat swabbed. Get this, her test results are going to be TEXTED to her! How crazy is that?!? They gave her some throat numbing lozenges and she said they are helping a lot. She is taking mucinex and Tylenol daily and it seems to be helping.
Donna made a vegetarian pizza for her host family and they LOVED it. She was also able to get her hands on some Halloween candy. :-) Now her host family wants her to make something Texan. If anyone has any suggestions on what is a perfect Texas dish, leave a comment!
Oh, funny story. In Azerbaijan, they believe that if you eat cold foods when it is cold outside, you will get sick. Since winter is setting in, nobody sells ice cream, yet all the PCTs are CRAVING ice cream like crazy. They will see a vendor that looks like they sell ice cream, run over and they are selling chicken or something else. Well somebody found ice cream and all the PCTs celebrated by chowing down. Since Donna got sick, the host mom is convinced that ice cream in winter is the culprit! Ha-ha.
When we talked to Donna on the phone we got to say hi to her host siblings and it was really fun! We were told that next time we call the host mom wants to talk to Mom and tell Mom how Donna is not studying enough!! Sounds like someone is cracking the study whip to Donna.
Donna found out her name means veal. Dana eti means veal meat in Azerbaijan. So different from Spanish where Dona means lady or woman.
I have been promised more pictures, possibly of the host family! I solemnly swear that I will post the pictures as soon as I receive them!!
That is all I have for you wonderful readers. Have a wonder Halloween!
